The historical frequency of portcullises and other things that I mentioned isn't the point. I hope that as improvements are made to raids we'll be able to send raids to other settlements as well, like we can send traders now. Adding siege ladders would make a lot of sense, and open more options for the AI other than just going for the doors. I'd also love to see the raid mechanic substantially improved. The game is still in very active development and there are fairly common updates. Pathfinding and AI decision making absolutely needs work, and I'm fairly confident that those issues will get improved. Sometimes I need to rebuild a few blocks, but it's uncommon. If trebuchets spawn they may damage some of my walls or buildings, but they rarely destroy anything before I've killed all the other attackers and the trebuchet crew flees. I build reasonably realistic castles, bar the doors, and kill everyone that comes up to my gatehouse. I'm not sure what your problem with combat is. You're thinking of something closer to a large sophisticated 15th Century castle inhabited by hundreds of people - and that's just not what this game is about. Especially in the relatively early period that the game is set in. Plenty of castles had square towers, very few castles had portcullises, draw bridges, or murder holes. If you're going to be this pissed off, at least try to be correct about your historic assertions. I mean Rimworld doesn't have seeds does it? Though i hope they decide to add more than just travelling traders, like bards and adventurers. They've added so much, like shelves, seeds, honey, ice, animals. I think the raids will have some overhaul with that. They're working on the social system and prisoner system. The game is still in development, and the discord gives me lots of hope. You can also play challenges like getting all the animals. I want to actually build crypts and stuff before i stop this play through. Though my current play through is the four Stark siblings of Winterfell and their wolves. I like playing the first year or two when it is actually a survival challenge, after that i usually start a new game. They could do actual sieges in the game, to run down supplies instead of attacking. Trebuchets were built on site, if the castle continued to ration during a siege. There is a difference between catapults and trebuchets. But, in history huge fortresses would take decades to make. I like rebuilding things differently, honestly a little upset they repair things automatically, but it's not a bad idea. You need to build a floor then you can hang the crenulations off the wall. It was one of the main selling points for me. I have a lot of faith in the devs, I'm sure they'll fix it - I just wish they'd prioritize that before the rest. The game scratches a very specific itch for me, yet it could be so much more. Even though I'm complaining, just writing about the game makes me want to start up a new map because it's been a while lol. It's still a super fun game for early access though and I have gotten way more than my money's worth out of it. It was my most enjoyable playthrough yet. Last time I played I chose to cheese it by building cheap destroyables like funeral pyres outside my walls that way the trebs dont spawn. Repairing from trebuchet attacks is simply annoying because the damage is pretty up there, and it takes for ever to rebuild anything especially if you're stuck fucking around building temporary staircases for hard to reach places. I love building big castles and tall towers. I have hundreds of hours in the game but still get frustrated at how LONG it takes to do anything. You're harsh in your phrasing, but overall I do agree with you.
